Steel Slate Roof (Plus Solar Panels) in Maple Grove, MN
August 12, 2026 | By Jeff Patnode

The roof shingles on this Maple Grove home had seen better days. The homeowner was ready for an upgrade, and we were happy to oblige. We replaced their old asphalt shingles with EDCO ArrowLine® Steel Slate roofing, vastly improving the roof’s appearance, durability, and longevity. The homeowner chose the Charcoal Gray color, which is just one of many options available.
EDCO’s remarkable steel roof system closely mimics the look of natural stone slate at a fraction of the cost and weight. Its PVDF finish reflects sunlight during the summer, decreasing cooling costs, and resists mold and mildew growth. ArrowLine® Steel Slate also has a UL Class 4 Impact Rating, the highest impact rating available, and resists winds up to 160 miles per hour. When combined with the strength of steel, this means that this roof will never chip, crack, peel, or drop shingles. And it’s virtually maintenance-free!
But we didn’t stop there. The homeowner wanted to install roof solar panels, so we coordinated with Wolf River Electric to integrate solar brackets into the new steel roof. The team at Wolf River did a fantastic job installing the solar panels when we had finished with the roof, and we were happy to collaborate with them! These solar panels plus steel’s ability to reflect sunlight make for an incredibly energy-efficient home.
